C/U of a face painted on a bald head. The head lifts up so we see it is comedian Ronald Frankau. He puts his top hat on and makes a humorous introduction to this compilation of turns. He makes a rhyming intro to the first act, Rupert Hazell and Elsie Day. C/U of Rupert Hazell - he looks quite odd, with heavy make-up and tufts of hair sticking out either side of his hat. He tells a few jokes, then plays a sort of violin with a brass horn on the end to accompany soprano Elsie Day (dressed in Victorian crinoline) who sings ’Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes’.
