Comedian Ronald Frankau, wearing his usual ’toff’ costume of top hat, white tie and tails plus long cigarette holder, sings (or rather speaks) a song about preferring the Shakespeare plays with gore in them, because ’I Like To See A Murder When I’m Out’ (may not be correct title of song). Monty Crick accompanies him at the piano. In the middle of the song, Frankau explains to us his comical version of ’Macbeth’ - “what a wonderful revue!“. He talks of the dirty old ladies who told Macbeth ’Beware the ides of march, you’ll receive a letter from a tall gentleman and you’re going on a long journey“. He tells of Duncan staying with Lady Macbeth for the grouse shooting and how Duncan decides to give Macbeth the croix de guerre and make him Queen of the May.
