Western AF presents Benjamin Tod | “Ballad of Spider John” by Willis Alan Ramsey As a songwriter who has crafted many songs using traditional American archetypes as characters in a narrative, this one by Willis Alan Ramsey is the best I’ve ever heard. I first heard this around the age of 15 with Christian Tengelitsch who is my oldest friends from my roots in Sumner County, TN. His father Rick West was a songwriter’s songwriter and used to throw us records like diamonds to guide our path toward musical enlightenment.
