Welcome to RC Warship Combat!
Now you might be wondering, “That looks really cool but what exactly is going on?“. Let me fill you in! These are models of WWI and WWII battleships (and smaller vessels) that are built to engage each other with Co2 powered BB “cannons“, puncturing holes in the balsa sides of their opponents. Every ship is equipped with a damage control pump (the water streams you see shooting up in the air) but if the damage becomes too great for the pump, your ship will sink! Yep, they sink! But here’s the best part, these ships are built to last years and endure the punishment of being in the water and being hit by flying BB’s. The hulls are a durable skeleton that is 85% penetrable to BB’s and often constructed from fiberglass or plywood. The thin balsa sides get adhered to the “ribs“ of the hull to make it watertight but also easy to shoot through. Once a ship has been raised from the bottom the hull is counted for points and then the holes are quickly patched using little squares of tissue paper and painted over with lacquer. This creates a fast drying, waterproof patch and the boat is ready for another battle within half an hour.
We’re a pretty small club, around 140 members across the US. We’re always looking for new recruits to join the fun! If you like naval history, building radio control models, and kicking your buddies @ss on the water, then this is the hobby for you!
We are the International Radio Control Warship Combat Club, or IRCWCC for short. You can find our website here at:
If you want to join the website is a good place to start. We also have a community forums that a good many active members frequent. Stop by: and introduce yourself today and you’ll probably even get to chat with me!
If you read this far, you’re awesome! Now stop reading and get building! It’s time to sink the other guys battleship!
