Hildesheim Cathedral (815?) Bernward Doors/Pillar, 1000 Year Rose, Boaz/Jachin, Halo Chandelier

Howdy ya’ll. Let’s take a deep dive into Hildesheim Cathedral in Hildesheim, Germany. The vast Cathedral has experienced a series of unfortunate events through history, and yet, a version of this massive structure still survives today. The infrastructure may date back as early as the 800’s. Residing within this cathedral are a cornucopia of relics including the Bernward Doors, The Bernward Column, and The Hezilo Halo Chandelier, as well as The Thousand Year Rose which grows upon the cathedral and the surrounding grounds. We also have ties to the founding of Hildesheim, which may have been built upon a much earlier pagan site. The Cathedral of Hildesheim was originally modeled after Solomon’s Temple, even complete with two pillars (one of which is The Bernward Column). We will discuss all this and much more today, enjoy!
