Sportshots No 6 - Skittles (1933)

Full titles read: “SPORTSHOTS NO 6 - ’SKITTLES’ - With explanatory commentary by Charles Eade - Sports Editor, Sunday Express.“ L/S of Charles Eade introducing the story. He gives a brief description of the rules of the game standing in the skittle alley. He picks up the large disc shaped object called the ’cheese’ which is used to knock the skittles over. Eade picks up a skittle which he says weighs nine pounds. Eade introduces the world champion of skittles Charles Hillier of Tufnell Park and his opponent in the next game, Harry Allen from Tooting. Several shots of the players throwing the cheese at the skittles, one of the competitors is applauded as he manages to knock all the skittle down with one throw. Good slow motion shots of the ’cheese’ flying through the air, Eade describes the technique used for a perfect shot. L/S of the skittles moving in reverse and standing up, the ’cheese’ fly’s through the air back into the arms of a competitor. FILM ID: A
