Hindu cremation ritual in Bali/ Ngaben, in Besang Kawan Village, Bali Island

Upacara Pitra Yadnya/ Ngaben I Ketut Alit Di Desa Besang kawan pada Hari Rabu 25 Mei 2022 Ngaben is a ceremony for burning the bodies of Hindus in Bali. The cremation ceremony is a ritual that is carried out to return the ancestral spirits to their place of origin. Ngaben in Balinese has a subtle connotation which is often called palebon. Palebon comes from the word lebu which means prathiwi or land. Palebon means to make prathiwi (ash). To make the land there are two ways, namely by burning (ngaben) and planting into the ground (metanem).
