Ferdinand Waldmüller - Nocturne, “Une fleur de printemps“
Waldmuller (1816-1885) was born in Brünn in Moravia. His parents soon moved to Vienna. At the age of 7 he had his first lessons. He was a painter too all his life and played the violin. At 24 he became a piano teacher in the german city Mainz. His playing is described as nice, with force and simplicity. Even playing 4-5 concert etudes in a row on a nice Bösendorfer grand with french and english mechanic, one can not see signs of exhaustion on him. His cantabile is soft and without false pathos, fine figures are brillant and very clear. Soon some of his very effective concert etudes will be published (excerpt from an article in a german magazine in 1846.)
