Labor criticised for ’guillotining’ legislation as lawyers ’could not keep up’

One Nation Chief of Staff James Ashby has praised Sky News host Peta Credlin for shedding light on how many pieces of legislation the Albanese government has “guillotined” through while preventing the Opposition from asking “appropriate questions”. “These people are guillotining, so in other words, just put a complete stop to the Senate being able to ask appropriate questions and flesh out legislation,” he told Ms Credlin. Mr Ashby’s comments come after Labor hurriedly passed through an IR Reforms bill with the help of several independent MPs. “Despite us having two really good lawyers in our offices … they could not keep up with going through what these amendments were going to mean as they were voted on today. “What are the unintended consequences long term because of this guillotine where we are prevented from asking questions in the Senate.”
