Dual Peak X-Flare and CME (10/7/2024) -

A strong solar flare event was observed around AR 3842 beginning at 19:05 UTC (Oct 7, 2024). The impulsive first event (X2.1) peaked at 19:13 UTC (Oct 7). A secondary peak measuring X1.0 was then observed at 21:01 UTC and this is associated with a bright coronal mass ejection (CME) that is now becoming visible in the the latest coronagraph imagery. A type II radio emission with an estimated velocity of 941 km/s was recorded. The plasma cloud should be directed mostly to the west, however a further update will be provided should a glancing blow be possible. #solarflare #coronalmassejection #solarham
