NagPanchami

We celebrate NagPanchami every year on Shravan (Name of the Month) Shukla Panchami (Fifth day of the month). This year we are celebrating this festival on 23rd July 2012. I am trying to describe how and why we celebrate this festival. There was a very big Nag (serpent) named as Kaliya in the river Yamuna. Kaliya was very poisonous and with his furious breathing, he can kill cows and other domestic animals. Hence the farmers and people were very much afraid of Kaliya.
