Barefoot Climb of Croagh Patrick

The history of the barefoot climb of Croagh Patrick intrigued me and I figured that if I was in Ireland and there was a notoriously difficult climb I could attempt then I’d be crazy not to try. I take off my shoes and begin one of the most painful climbs I’ve ever completed. The sharp rocks from start to end contribute to the pain intended to be felt for penance. Although I do not claim Catholicism and was not attempting this hike as a form of penance I was able to feel the pain and mental anguish that went along with this hike. If you’re considering barefoot hiking or working towards being barefoot more often, consider using the shoes I use which are considered a “barefoot shoe“ that simulate a barefoot while still providing protection from sharp rocks and terrain. I have used them for years and I swear by them. Plus they have a 5,000 mile sole warranty! Be sure to check out my website!
