Nogbold’s Palace (Germany) - Dark Agony (Album 1998)

Debut album by this killer project from Lower Saxony, Germany. Excellent primitive but rather experimental, haunting, mid-paced Black Metal. Something that definitely has some similarities with some of their compatrios as Eispalast, but goes into a much darker and nightmarish sound, often resembling bands like Xasthur, or even the most recent Eerified Catacomb album with its clearer sound and more emphasis on the keys and a spectral, reverberating guitar tone. Absolutely killer gem from the fertile late 90s German scene. Self-released on tape, CD version via Irrlichter Records.
