Ardulph Ardebahr Wald (Germany) - Secrets of Wahrendorff / Schaebtums Grächtnis (Album 1999)

Debut album by this killer project, involving a member of Nogbold’s Palace. Excellent sorrowful Black/Doom Metal, with strong influences form Gothic Metal and genres like Post-Punk and Industrial. Some tracks definitely feel somewhat like a precursor to the DSBM sound, following along the footsteps of Strid and Bethlehem with an incredibly desolate, dark sound, but with no disregard to songwriting. Some other tracks are not as heavy in the nostalgia, with a heavier approach, and incredible and rather unique guitar work, where I’d say this album shines the most, in tracks like “Black Hate Deathbringer of Dark Evil and War“ or “Gandalf - Thy Mighty Penés“ Self-released on CDr, put out to tape and CD via Irrlichter Records.
