Scariest Hike Ever, One step Away from Disaster on Rampart Ridge Trail near Longmire, Mt Rainier NP

Snowshoe hike from 2800 foot elevation to 4100. Must have been 10-12 feet of snow on the ground at the top. West side of loop should have been closed, I honestly felt that if I fell I would have been stranded until help came. Between the deep snow, extreme slope, and snowshoes on I would most likely have been immobile and not been able to possibly move. Very scary! I could not turn around, that would mean 3.5 miles in the other direction and only 2 hours of daylight left. Did the entire loop of 5 miles in just under 5 hours. Do not attempt this with deep snow on the trail! Trail was single track through the avalanche chutes, only room for one snow shoe in front of the other. Downhill edge broken in places from snow giving away. Poles went all the way into the snow and never hit anything solid.
