’Haiti wants peace’: Ariel Henry resigns after gangs wage war on government

The Haitian prime minister issued his resignation and announced a residential council for the government’s transition, after a gang insurrection against the government. Henry went on to thank the people of Haiti and everyone ’in the government team’. Henry’s resignation comes after gangs joined forces to oust the unelected leader during 10 days of chaos in which they set police stations on fire, stormed ports and prisons and laid siege to the capital’s international airport.
