New F-15EX Unveiled as the Eagle II at Eglin AFB - 7 April 2021

Lt. Gen. Duke Richardson, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology Logistics Military Deputy, presents the newest aircraft in the Air Force, the F-15EX Eagle II, with a dramatic curtain drop at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida on 7 April 2021. (Courtesy video provided by 96th Test Wing Public Affairs) The F-15EX is said to be a replacement for old F-15Cs and F-15Ds as they reach the end of their service lives. Among the EX’s innovations are larger weapons carrying capabilities and electronics and radar upgrades. Current Air Force plans call for 144 F-15EXs to be built. The F-15EX offers a quick way to keep Air Force fighter obligations up to speed as older F-15s, some of them more than 40 years old, are retired.
