The track I’m playing to is from a recording by Count Basie and his Orchestra circa 1938 and was the best viewed video of mine on the now defunct Next Level Chops YouTube channel. In it’s day it achieved over a million views, to be exact!
However, although it was one of my favourite tunes to play with my Swing Orchestra at the time, I didn’t consider this version worthy of putting on the channel mainly as it was not the most appropriate drum kit for it. The drum set is in fact a British Carlton make from the 1930’s with a Compaksol Console and a beautiful condition Carlton Prince snare drum which came in it’s original box. Right period but I would have preferred to have used an American kit but hey ho, it still did ok eh?
Fingers crossed that with your help we can get a good few views this time but I doubt if will ever get quite as many as before? Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and please do subscribe if you haven’t already.
