A lifeguard found the remains of a glyptodon that inhabited the Buenos Aires coast during the last ice age, on a beach in Camet Norte on Sunday
“I love this place very much. It represents me as a lifeguard, as a person, and the truth is that I am very proud to have participated in this, to have found it,“ said Rafael, the lifeguard who made the discovery.
Residents who came to the beach were enthusiastic about the discovery.
“The findings that have been made here have an international impact. And we have the privilege of seeing them firsthand and preserving them, too. I think we have a great commitment as a community to preserve them,“ said a local resident.
According to reports, local authorities are evaluating the possibility of creating a museum on the site, which would be the first of its kind in the province of Buenos Aires.
