First we take a ride with the diesel train (the steam train ride will follow later on this channel) pulled by the ex-NS 2278 from 1957. At 12:47 our train is being filmed by Scott’s Railroad Video’s. The Stadskanaal Rail Foundation (STAR, better known as Museum Railway STAR) was founded in June 1992 with the aim of preserving of the Veendam – Stadskanaal – Musselkanaal railway line. At the time, this railway was slated to be demolished. Since the foundation of the STAR, the volunteers have worked hard on the realization of the museum railway. Definitely worth a visit!
