Ornate Galaxias (Galaxias ornatus) were until recently part of the Mountain Galaxias (Galaxias olidus) species complex. Previously thought of as just one species, recent work on “Mountain Galaxias“ by Dr Tarmo Raadik has shown that this group is actually a diverse “species complex“ These fish were filmed in a small freshwater stream in the upper Yarra River catchment in the Dandenong Ranges to the east of Melbourne, in Victoria , Australia.
