Hoiho - The worlds rarest Penguin

Unique to New Zealand, the hoiho, or yellow-eyed penguin, is thought to be one of the world’s rarest penguin species. The Māori name hoiho means ’noise shouter’, referring to their shrill call . The scientific name , Megadyptes means deep diver referring to their ability to dive up to 160 metres .
