Gujarat Polling Booth Records 100% Turnout As Lone Voter Casts His Vote Deep Inside Gir Forest
In the remote Gir Forest, a special polling booth is set up for the lone voter, Mahant Haridas, a temple priest. Located several kilometers from the nearest human settlement, officials travel a long and bumpy journey by bus to ensure his participation. Despite the area’s lack of phone network, a team of 10 arrives a day before voting to facilitate the process. This practice, in place since 2007, demonstrates the significance of every vote, as the booth remains operational even if Haridas is the only voter.
