NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Warner Bros. 5121) Out of Los Angeles, this 1959 holiday disc displays the royal coolness of hipster, Edd ’Kookie’ Byrnes. Portraying the jive character he was known for at the time, Gerald Lloyd ’Kookie’ Kookston, III on ABC-TV“s ’77 Sunset Strip’, he narrates his version of ’The Night Before Christmas’. ’Yulesville’ was also included on a rare Warner Bros. holiday LP that showcased Christmas tunes by the then popular Warner Bros. TV stars such as Connie Stevens, Robert Conrad and Efrem Zimbalist, Jr.
In competition that same year was a similar version of this tune by Patsy Raye and The Beatniks on Roulette entitlesd, ’Beatnik’s Wish’. In 1962 on a small Denver, Colorado label, the tune would be covered in the style of Patsy’s by Tony Rodelle Larson and re-titled ’Cool Yule’.
