Two years before David Arnold wrote the incredible score for Independence Day, he was a relative unknown who provided the truly epic score for this sci-fi hit that spawned an entire franchise. As great as the action music is, the highlight of the score is the beautiful main theme, which is heard early on in this choral, ethereal statement as we first see the Stargate itself.
Starring Kurt Russell, James Spader and Jaye Davidson. Written by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, with the former directing and the latter producing. The pair would go on to revive the disaster-movie genre, and part of the impact their first two hits had on audiences worldwide was due to the power of David Arnold’s music.
