Church Lodges Ex-Prisoners (1959)

Ex-prisoners rising from their beds in the higher parts of the church and getting dressed. The Reverend Bertram Peake working at typewriter and he pauses to think. Ex-prisoners lining up for their morning cup of tea at the kitchen in the Deacon’s vestry. We see a newly-released prisoner leaving Wormwood Scrubs jail. He is met by another ex-prisoner and they go to the Golborne Free Church to meet the Rev Peake. Natural sound as the Reverend asks their names and says they can stay at the church for a bed and a meal, free of charge, but asks their objective. One says he’s looking for a job and somewhere to stay. (It looks very cold in the church - we can see their breath as they speak!)
