Thousands protest COVID-19 lockdown in Sydney

Demonstrators have clashed with police at a rally in Sydney, against tough COVID-19 restrictions. Several people who breached strict stay-at-home orders were arrested. The huge group started at Victoria Park in Camperdown and took over city streets as they walked toward Town Hall shouting: “freedom”. NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard criticised the protests, telling reporters the demonstrations were “silly”.
