The special hospital “Chigota“ in Zlatibor deals with the complete diagnosis and therapy of thyroid gland diseases, the diagnosis and therapy of cardiovascular diseases, the diagnosis of osteoporosis, the therapy of childhood and adolescent obesity, the diagnosis and therapy of the bone and joint system. The idea to build a health resort on Zlatibor mountain arose at the end of the 19th century, and it was realized in the second half of the twentieth century - the site of the health resort was chosen based on a study done by a team of experts: doctors, climatologists, architects. The results of the treatment were incomparably better compared to the previous medical treatment, so that our institution has become a unique center for the treatment of thyroid gland diseases in the Balkans. Since its founding, it has strived for scientific and professional growth, in which cooperation with the Institute for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases of the University Clinical Center made a major contribution, which enabled our institution to become the base of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade, within which scientific, educational and specialized activity. Специјална болница ’’Чигота’’ на Златибору бави се комплетном дијагностиком и терапијом обољења штитасте жлезде, дијагностиком и терапијом кардиоваскуларних обољења, дијагностиком остеопорозе, терапијом дечје и адолесцентске гојазности, дијагностиком и терапијом коштано-зглобног система. Идеја за изградњу лечилишта на Златибору јавила се крајем 19. века, а реализована је у другој половини двадесетог века - локалитет лечилишта изабран је на основу елабората који је урадио тим стручњака: лекари, климатолози, архитекте. Резултати лечења били су неупоредиво бољи у односу на раније медикаментно лечење, тако да је наша установа постала јединствен центар за лечење обољења штитасте жлезде на Балкану.
