Investigative Journalist Questions BBC Using Licence Fee Money To Protect Martin Bashir
Investigative journalist Andy Webb questions why the BBC is spending more than £250,000 of licence payers’ money to protect a dossier about Princess Diana’s Panorama interview.
This comes after Martin Bashir suggested allegations he secured a Panorama interview with Diana, Princess of Wales through deceit were due to him being “non-white”.
In the email, Bashir also claimed securing the interview while being the child of immigrants with “working-class roots” led to “some irritation” among BBC colleagues.
Andy says: “The BBC has confirmed to me that they have spent £151,000 of license payers money on external lawyers“
