Full title reads: “Manchester. Lancashire’s Cotton Pageant. 5,000 children - dressed to form a Cotton Plantation - assisted by a Choir of 1,5000 voices, present a unique and novel spectacle.“ Manchester, Lancashire. Large numbers of young children wearing outfits designed to make them look like cotton plants, They are holding leaves and have white fluffy hats on. They are parading across a large athletics field or show ground. A man is conducting a choir seated next to a small orchestra in one of the stands. People walk amongst the children pretending to pick the cotton from their heads. They are obviously intended to demonstrate how cotton is picked for use in the textile industry.
