Ptychochromis insolitus , the endangered Mangarahara cichlid from Madagascar
Ptychochromis insolitus , the Mangarahara cichlid , or Joba Mena is one of the most endangered cichlids in the world. Their habitat in Madagascar is changing because of dams and deforestation and introduced species outcompete the endemic cichlids. Conservation groups, zoos, and dedicated hobbyists try to maintain this unusual cichlid in captivity.
