Cody Flom | It’s Not About Me

After much anticipation, we couldn’t be any prouder to finally present to you Cody Flom’s long-awaited video part. Words By Cody on - “It’s not about me” This is the best single phrase that I could come up with to express how I feel in regard to scootering. When I started to travel and compete at 14 years old, every year I would continue to grow accustom to a selfish mindset, thinking something like ‘if I’m getting sent to places like the UK or AUS or across the country when I’m only 16, I can’t wait to see what I’m going to get to do when I’m older!’ I’m 22 now, and I see now how wrong this way of thinking was. The truth is, as I’ve gotten older, i feel as though scootering has become less about me. It’s about so much more than that; it’s about loving other people, growing the sport, hard work, stewardship, and doing what’s right just to name a few. If you’re in a season of life right now where everything is about you, then I would encourage you to consider why that is. Is it because you long for clout in the industry you love? If it is, I’ve been there, I know what it feels like to carry the burden of pride. Always stressed about the performance of your next insta edit, or YouTube video… this is a sucky way to do life. Life is not about how well we perform. Maybe, for you, it’s about how much money you can make, or how much you can get while putting in the least amount of effort. I’ve been there too and I want to tell you that there is another way to do life, a better way that is not based on performance but on grace. It’s THE Way that allows me to confidently say it’s not about me and actually be happy about that fact. Thank you for watching my video part. I’m really excited about this one.
