The Hartmann Neuron is a peculiarity among synthesizers as a whole: instead of structuring sounds around traditional oscillators or filters, it uses simple neural networks to analyze and recreate models of different “scapes“ and “spheres.“ In Neuron-speak, that means this synth is based around techniques of physical modeling, emulating different forms of exciters and different forms of resonators (or, in Neuron-speak, Resynators) to provide unique approaches to sound design. Excelling at evolving sounds, peculiar pads, and 5.1 spatialized music, the Neuron is a spectacular synth for creating a sense of ambience and atmosphere. This video explores some of the rich, peculiar, and alien soundscapes that the Neuron can produce.
