The pathologising of intersex bodies, and how it affects access to healthcare

Right from childhood, intersex persons, especially those with visible variations, bear the brunt of the lack of awareness surrounding intersex identities. An intersex person is someone with a range of biological features atypical of what are widely understood as male or female sex characteristics. Intersex community says that problematic and outdated medical terminologies remain a huge barrier to accessing proper healthcare.
