basque et a capella romances et airs sacrés,
chansons de marin et de berger. Leur premier
album, Oldarra, le chant basque (Warner
Classics), s’est vendu à 60 000 exemplaires.
The musical traditions of the Basque have been
preserved by Biarritz-based Oldarra. Singing songs
from the region’s seven provinces in their original
language, the all-amateur, 40-man choral group
blends a rich mixture of liturgical chants and songs
written by sailors or shepherds.
