Luisa Palicio - Antwerp 2010

Flamenco dancer Luisa Palicio (1984) is one of the most remarkable young talents in today’s flamenco scene. Although she stems from Estepona (Malaga), her dancing style still contains several elements of the Sevillian school. No wonder, considering that Luisa Palicio can be called a disciple of Milagros Menjibar, guiding star of that typical Sevillian style, characterized by sheer grace and elegance. To this, Luisa Palicio adds special attention to the dance with Bata de Cola. Milagros Menjibar also took her along on a tour. They crossed Spain together, performing in the show “Homenaje a la Bata de Cola“. At the beginning of her career, she won the 1st prize at the National Alegrias Competition in Cádiz. Furthermore, she was laureate at the dancing competition of the Fundacion Cristina Heeren in Seville. Meanwhile, she has been teaching for quite some time at that same institute, along with Rafael Campallo and Carmen Ledesma, among others. At the Seville Biennial, today’s flamenco festival par excellence, she was celebrated as “Artista Revelacion“, without any doubt the most important trophy of her career so far. Luisa Palicio is now ready for a first full worthy tour outside of Spain. She is soon coming up north with her very own cuadro, which is to become her debut as a protagonist on the international stages. For more info visit: Add us on Facebook : Follow us on Twitter :
