Windrush 75: What is it and why do we celebrate it?
It is 75 years since the Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks.
Stepping off the ocean liner on that day were nearly 500 people from the Caribbean, ready to build a new life in Britain.
Whilst it was not the first nor the largest ship to bring Caribbean people to the UK, it symbolised the wave of migrants who would help rebuild the country in the aftermath of the Second World War.
But what exactly happened and why do we still celebrate this journey today?
