Goethe’s Dynamic Colour Circle - At the border between physical determinism and aesthetical freedom

I am discussing what it means to use a hue circle as a symbol for the manifold of colours. Especially what Goethe may have intended with it. When Goethe in his Farbenlehre summed up all he found and learnt about colour as a natural phenomenon, he searched for a symbolic representation of colour as it appears in nature. Before he went on to the final chapter, where the psychological, cultural and aesthetic aspects of colour are treated. The “dynamic hue circle“ should be that symbol.
