This video presents time-resolved 2D evolution of the soot particle diameter in a swirl and stratified turbulent flame produced by the SIRIUS burner operated under a low swirl intensity. It was obtained experimentally thanks to the measurement of angular elastic scattering of light.
The high repetition rates of the laser and the use of cameras enable a spatial and temporal description of the transport, stretching and mixing of the soot pocket and filaments and an evaluation of the effects of these phenomena on the soot particle sizes.
