First Tesla Model S Prototype Unveiling in April 2009

Check out Tesla invited me to attend the exclusive premier of their Model S electric car at their Menlo Park store on April 8, 2009. At that time, the Tesla Roadster was the only performance electric vehicle currently for sale, with a range of 244 miles and a 0 to 60 time under 4 seconds on electricity alone. But it was an expensive niche-market vehicle. In 2009 they introduced the Model S luxury sedan in an effort to break into the mainstream market with what would be the first mass-produced highway-capable electric vehicle. This video was shot on location at the event. It’s interesting to see how the company, and their cars, have evolved since then - and to witness how Tesla has managed to completely change public perception of what electric vehicles can be.
