They are wealthy, concerned with business, their social standing, and other material concerns. Although their devoutly Christian, African American maid Mattie prays for them, and tries to speak to the son, Ron, about Jesus, the family remains disinterested. Ron’s mother, Kate, only realizes their need for prayer after Ron is put in jail for crime. The film prolog states “Betrayed“ is “the tragic story of a boy whose parents gave him everything, except the one thing he needed most “ -- accepting Jesus Christ as his savior (0:29). The film was written and directed by Ken Anderson, former editor of the magazine “Mocidade para Christo“. Anderson’s company eventually grew to be one of the largest Christian film distributors in the world
