Israel declares war after large-scale rockets strike from Gaza and surprise Hamas infiltration

In a swift response to a rocket onslaught from Gaza, Israel has raised a state of war alert, mobilizing its military forces. At least one person lost life and 16 are injured, two in critical condition. Continuous sirens sounded across southern and central Israel, including the economic hub of Tel Aviv, during this large-scale rocket attack on early Saturday. A surprise infiltration by dozens of Hamas militants into southern Israel has also been reported. Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that runs Gaza, has claimed responsibility for the rocket attack and issued a call for a general uprising against Israel. Dubbed as “Al-Aqsa Storm“ operation, they launched 5,000 rockets targeting enemy positions, airports, and military installations in response to perceived provocations including attacks on women, the desecration of the al-Aqsa mosque, and the ongoing Gaza siege.
