T-34-57 EXTERMINATOR vs UP-ARMOURED PANZER IV | 57mm ZiS-4 Armour Penetration Simulation

The T-34-57 was an experimental version of the vehicle, fitted with the high-velocity 57mm ZiS-4 cannon, intended to counter heavier German armour. The cannon fired the BR-271 projectile at around 1000m/s, giving it better penetration than any Soviet medium tank cannon of the time. This simulation can be compared to the 76mm cannon here: The Panzer IV shown here is based on the Panzer IV D at the @thetankmuseum , featuring applique armour. The outer plates are modelled as 400BHN High Hardness Armour (HHA), with the base plate being 30mm of Face Hardened Armour (FHA) -600BHN front face, 350BHN bulk. The projectile has been modelled based on a US assessment of BR--271, with an approximately uniform hardness of ~500BHN: It can be assumed that this increased hardness was out of necessity, due to the 990m/s muzzle velocity.
