. Ian Stuart Donaldson Ian Stuart Donaldson wurde in Poulton-le-Fylde im Norden Englands geboren. Er wuchs im nahen Blackpool bei seinem Großvater auf und besuchte die dortige Grammar School. Mit Schulfreunden gründete er die Gruppe Tumbling Dice, benannt nach einem Rolling-Stones-Titel. 1976 sah er zusammen mit weiteren Bandmitgliedern die Punk-Rock-Band Sex Pistols bei einem Konzert in Manchester und benannte danach die Gruppe in Skrewdriver um. Auf dem Cover ihrer ersten Single sind sie noch als Punks zu sehen, auf ihrem ersten Album All Skrewed Up von 1977 bereits als Skinheads. All Skrewed Up beinhaltete jedoch noch keine rechtsextremistischen Texte. Am 24. September 1993 platzte auf einer Schnellstraße in Heanor, nahe Derby, der Reifen eines mit fünf Personen, darunter auch Donaldson, besetzten Autos. Das Auto überschlug sich, Donaldson und ein weiterer Mann kamen ums Leben. Stuarts Bandkollege Stigger sagte später, man hätte auf die Reifen des Autos geschossen. They formed the cover band Tumbling Dice, who played songs by the Rolling Stones and other bands. In 1975, they formed Skrewdriver. After the original Skrewdriver lineup disbanded in 1979, Donaldson formed a new lineup and began to write songs for youth and music in the National Front.[1] The new version of Skrewdriver openly promoted far-right groups such as the National Front and raised funds for them (and affiliated organisations) through the White Noise Records label.[1] Skrewdriver became known for its involvement in the White Nationalist movement and its associated music genre, Rock Against Communism.[1] In 1987, Donaldson founded Blood & Honour, nationalist music and organised concerts.[1] Donaldson also became leader of two other bands—The Klansmen (a rockabilly band) and White Diamond (a hard rock/heavy metal band)—and released several solo albums. Along with Skrewdriver guitarist Stigger (Stephen Calladine), he recorded the albums Patriotic Ballads volumes 1 and 2, which included covers of folk songs such as “The Green Fields of France“. Donaldson’s voice also appeared in the song “The Invisible Empire“.
