Howl (Estonia) — Drought — 2024 full length

The debut of this duo, hailing Estonia. This two-piece act is not afraid to get their hands dirty, weaving an explosive blend of black and death metal that will leave listeners both battered and exhilarated. The strength of this album lies in its diversity, as this duo is not content to stay in one lane. Tracks veer from mind-blowing death metal riff onslaughts to caustic war metal marches, even though with a touch more bass and distortion, they could truly claim the war metal crown. There is even room for some straightforward, destructive black metal, thrown into the mix, although more sparsely. These diverse influences keep the album fresh and engaging, as the nearly forty minutes of music fly by in a blur of blackened fury, ensuring listeners never get bored. Howl’s “Drought” is another impressive addition to the already formidable Warhorn Records roster, a label known for its dedication to pushing the boundaries of the genre and once again succeeds in doing so.
