Baltie zvani AKA White Bells (Ivars Kraulitis, 1961)

The film is both a portrait of a city and of a small child – a documentary with staged elements showing an episode of a young girl’s daily life in the lively, seething heart of the city. The film brilliantly documents the fast-growing Rīga of the 1960s, while also reservedly showing the daily rush of its inhabitants.
