Becorn in an Ice Bubble

Ever since I learned that ice crystals can form on bubbles, I’ve wanted to get a Becorn inside one. I worked as a toy designer for most of my career, and one of my favorite parts of the job was creating mechanisms - like jail doors that snap shut, projectiles that shoot, claws that grab, etc. It’s rare that I need to create a mechanism for Becorns, so figuring out how to get a Becorn into a soap bubble was a real treat for me. The darkness is a different vibe than my usual lighthearted photos. I would’ve shot in the daylight, but temperatures weren’t low enough. I like the haunting mood though, and it was fun writing a song to match. I can’t wait to try some variations of this scene in the daylight next winter if I can catch a cold, snowy day. If you look in the reflection of the bubble, you can see the little tube where the Becorn is hiding. I had planned to paint the tube black so it wouldn’t be so visible, but I second guessed myself because the surrounding snow is white. I think I’ll try black next time.
