Hermóðr - Blood Red Water (full ep, 2024)

A new Hermóðr release is always worth noting, so here I am. One of my favourite projects, that I would be pleased to introduce you to if this is your first encounter. The characteristic melancholic hypnotism of the riffs does find its more regular accompaniment f Rosie’s vocals, but there is something of a bitterness antagonising these tracks, from an EP that is aggressively titled for a Hermóðr release. Blood Red Water features some doomy passages, taut folk reminiscence, and harsh, violently rasped vocals add to one of the more sinister releases from the Swedish duo, setting it slightly apart from recent EPs and albums. As always, worth multiple listens and adding to your collections.
