José Feliciano (Lares, September 10, 1945) is a Puerto Rican singer. Because of his congenital glaucoma he is blind from birth. He has had many international hits, of which Feliz Navidad is one of the best known. In 1967 Feliciano wrote the song “No Dogs Allowed“ in response to the refusal to admit his guide dog to Great Britain, where he would give a performance. Jose has been blind since birth. The strict quarantine measures of that time were instituted for fear of rabies. The live version of the song became a top ten hit in 1970. Before that he scored his first hit in 1968 with “Light My Fire“ (The Doors). In 1971 he scored his biggest hit: “Che sarà“ reached 2nd place in the Top 40.
