Stephen: Garry and Tony filmed various bits of TV garbage off the TV screen and made film loops with the results. They brought that in and we re-shot the film off the wall of the studio to put it to videotape. Garry lip-synced the words of the song and we taped his head to the wall to keep him in place so that we could matte his moving lips into the graphic, which came from a book of pictures of sick children and was blown up several 100%. Bits of colourising and synth effects helped give the overall grungy surface. An edited version of
this clip was shown on the first Max Headroom series in the UK, 1985.
Tom: The music descends into spasms of sliced noise drawn mainly from a bar room brawl I taped off TV (chairs broken over people’s heads and so on). In keeping with this the screen is filled with
